The one small spot I tidy when my mind feels cluttered
I've started doing something small when my mind feels cluttered: I pick one small spot — a corner of the desk, the kitchen counter, the shelf by my bed — and tidy just that. Not the whole room. Just the little patch of space I can see from where I'm sitting.
It takes a few minutes, and I do it slowly, with no rushing. There's something about making one small square of the world orderly that seems to tell my brain it can settle down too. I can't sort out everything in my head, but I can straighten a stack of papers.
Today it was the windowsill. Three minutes, and the rest of the room is still a mess. I don't mind. That small, tidy square is doing more for me than a fully cleaned house ever did.
Is there one small spot in your home that could become your calm square?
