I step outside and just listen for five minutes
Something I've been doing on loud days: I step outside — front steps, balcony, parking lot, wherever — and just listen for five minutes. No phone, no goal. Just the sounds that were already there: traffic humming, a dog barking somewhere, wind moving through the trees, maybe kids shouting down the street.
The first minute my brain still races. By minute three, something shifts. The world is bigger than whatever was looping in my head, and for a little while I'm just a person standing in it.
It's not meditation with a name or a technique. It's just giving my ears something else to do. On days when my thoughts are too loud, I go listen to the quieter world outside them.
Does anything like this work for you — a small thing that breaks the noise?
