Psychedelic Therapy for MDD: The FDA granted Breakthrough Therapy designation to DT120 (lysergide), an orally disintegrating tablet, for major depressive disorder (MDD). This was supported by a phase 3 trial where a single 100 µg dose produced a statistically significant 8.1-point improvement on the MADRS depression scale at week 6, with benefits lasting through week 12. This is the second such designation for the drug, following one for generalized anxiety disorder.

Ketamine for Bipolar Depression: A randomized clinical trial found that repeated intravenous ketamine infusions (0.5–0.75 mg/kg over 2 weeks) were effective for treatment-resistant bipolar depression. The ketamine group showed a 7.3-point greater reduction in depression scores compared to the active control (midazolam), with no cases of treatment-emergent mania, hypomania, or psychosis.
