October's quiet invitation to slow down
I've been noticing how the light goes earlier these days — the evenings arriving sooner, the air a little crisper on the walk home. Every year it takes me a while to adjust when the season turns, and I suspect I'm not the only one.
Some Octobers, I feel the change as a relief — like permission to go a little slower, spend more evenings inside with a warm drink and nowhere to be. Other years it feels like a small goodbye to summer that I'm not quite ready to say.
So here's my question for us today: as October settles in, is there one small way you'd like to slow down this month? Not a goal, not a plan — just one gentle thing. A longer walk. An earlier bedtime. Calling your mom.
I'll start: I'm giving myself permission to close the laptop an hour earlier on weeknights. October feels like exactly the right month for it.
What about you?
