The Stability Paradox: When Emotional Stability Can Speed Relief but Delay Resolution of Interpersonal Hurt

Emotional stability helps people bounce back from hurt, and usually that is a good thing. But what if feeling better too soon quietly ends the work of understanding what happened? This article proposes the stability paradox: when relief is mistaken for completion, a person can recover emotionally while the question of whether and how far to trust again stays unanswered. It explains when this cost may arise, how to tell it from healthy recovery, and what evidence would prove the idea wrong. It does not claim that calm is a problem, or that suffering is necessary for healing.
