Workplace Leaders Say Mental Health Now Matters More to Business Results
A new annual survey of more than 500 human resources and benefits leaders, released November 3, finds that 92% now see mental health support as essential to keeping a business performing well, and 83% say its importance has grown over the past three years. Nearly half pointed to increasingly complex mental health needs as the biggest pressure facing employers heading into 2027, and most said simply widening access to care is no longer enough — quality and effectiveness matter too. Leaders also flagged children's mental health and support for managers as areas where they feel least prepared, with 82% expecting mental health budgets to rise.

Online Mental Health Assessments Are Reaching Areas With No Local Psychiatrist
An analysis of more than 50,000 online behavioral health evaluations, to be presented November 7 at a neuroscience education conference, maps where those evaluations were completed against a federal registry of psychiatrists. About one in three evaluations came from ZIP codes with no listed psychiatrist, and such areas made up nearly half of the provider-served ZIP codes in the analysis. Because the evaluations do not require a live appointment or a high-speed connection, the researchers say they can reach places where in-person specialist care is scarce, though the evaluation itself is validated for adult ADHD assessment, with work under way for anxiety and depression.

Patients at a Psychiatric Hospital Showed Broad Gains in Daily Life, New Outcomes Data Say
Houston's Menninger Clinic has released its 2025 inpatient outcomes data, reporting improvements across symptoms and everyday functioning rather than symptom scores alone. Among patients assessed more than once during treatment, 94% improved in at least one area and 58% improved in most areas measured. Anxiety scores fell by an average of 24.3%, difficulties with daily functioning fell by about 20%, and difficulty managing emotions fell by 13.4%, with patients also reporting that they felt cared for and respected and increasingly agreed with their treatment goals.
