Something that surprised me about making space for something enjoyable

This has been on my mind lately: making space for something enjoyable. I would like to approach it with more curiosity and less pressure than I have in the past. Restorative time seems to work best when I stop asking it to be productive. I am especially interested in approaches that still work on imperfect days.

Sometimes I tell one trusted person exactly what would help—listening, company, or a quick check-in later. Being specific takes away some of the guesswork.

I appreciate the honesty here. It is encouraging to see people leave room for different needs, different timelines, and imperfect progress.

That is a helpful question. I call a step manageable when I can begin it without needing to feel completely ready first.

Thank you for naming making space for something enjoyable. The details may differ for each person, but your post made me feel less alone in it.

One thing that has helped me is protecting fifteen minutes for something that leaves me steadier. I keep the goal deliberately small so it feels supportive rather than like another obligation.
