How I am rethinking making space for something enjoyable

It took me a while to name it, but I am dealing with making space for something enjoyable. I would like to approach it with more curiosity and less pressure than I have in the past. Restorative time seems to work best when I stop asking it to be productive. If you relate, what is one thing you wish others knew about the experience?

Thank you for naming making space for something enjoyable. The details may differ for each person, but your post made me feel less alone in it.

I relate to the part about making space for something enjoyable. What usually tells you that you need comfort, practical help, or simply some space?

One thing that has helped me is protecting fifteen minutes for something that leaves me steadier. I keep the goal deliberately small so it feels supportive rather than like another obligation.

That is a helpful question. I call a step manageable when I can begin it without needing to feel completely ready first.

My experience has been uneven too. I started noting what happened just before a difficult moment, and over time a few useful patterns became visible.

Sometimes I tell one trusted person exactly what would help—listening, company, or a quick check-in later. Being specific takes away some of the guesswork.
